New Frontier Media Issues Upbeat Quarterly Report

BOULDER, Co. — Adult content cable and satellite distributor New Frontier Media this week issued its quarterly results for its fiscal 2009 first quarter, which ended June 30. The upbeat assessment reported net sales of $13.1 million compared with $12.9 million in the same quarter last year.

Net income for the quarter was reported to be $1.2 million, or $0.05 per share, as compared to $1.5 million, or $0.06 per share, during the same prior year quarter. While cash flow from operations were reported to have grown to $4.5 million as compared to $1.1 million in the prior year quarter, the company also reported costs totaling $500,000 associated with the development of a direct-to-consumer IPTV set-top box.

New Frontier CEO Michael Weiner expressed strong optimism about the upcoming fiscal year, especially with respect to growth strategies for Noof’s core businesses.

“During fiscal year 2009, we expect cash flows from operations will be significantly greater than that required to fund our growth initiatives as well as our stock repurchase program,” he said. “We are conducting an extensive analysis on the allocation of the company’s capital. We intend to aggressively repurchase shares under our stock repurchase program as and when market conditions permit.

Specifically, New Frontier portends increased revenue due to expansion in the Transactional TV segment in Germany, France, Canada and Mexico, announced an expected domestically launch of cable pay-per-view services in new systems as well as additional hours of video-on-demand shelf space.

The company also announced that beta testing of its new direct-to-consumer IPTV set-top box continues in the U.K., and preliminary test marketing communications have begun, with results expected by the end of the fiscal year.

Pink Visual Scammed by Fraudulent Distributors

Van Nuys, CA - Adult studio Pink Visual was the victim of two fraudulent cashier’s check scams when two undisclosed distributors paid for COD shipments of Pink Visual DVDs with counterfeit cashier’s checks totaling nearly $25,000.

Once the cashier’s checks were discovered to be fraudulent, these distributors could no longer be contacted by their provided information. Thus far, Pink Visual has been unsuccessful in tracking these distributors down or regaining the money owed. Subsequent invoices sent by Pink Visual to the retailers were returned to sender due to the addresses being vacant. These distributors also paid their UPS shipping fees with cashier’s checks, but their validity is yet to be confirmed.

“It looks like these guys set up shop, placed the order, and left,” says Kim Kysar, Brand and Product Manager for Pink Visual. “It is important in this economy that adult studios, retailers, and distributors all look out for each other. We had $25,000 worth of product stolen from us in a sophisticated scam and those titles will most likely be re-sold. Pink Visual encourages everyone in the industry to order from legal and reputable sources to help minimize the damage of scams like these. We also wanted to warn other studios of these recent acts of fraud in the hopes of preventing similar scams aimed at them.”

Although the provided names of the retailers will not be disclosed, both were located in Southern California.
