Taormino’s Chemistry Selected for 2nd Annual Pornotopia Film Festival

Los Angeles, Ca. – “Chemistry,” the AVN Award winning movie from director Tristan Taormino, has been selected to be part of The 2nd Annual PORNOTOPIA Film Festival. The Festival is a project of Self Serve, a sex-positive sex toy store and resource center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Self Serve partners with The Guild Cinema (3405 Central Avenue, NE) for the festival, which runs from November 14 to 16, 2008. Chemistry will be screened on Saturday, November 15.

Molly Adler and Matie Fricker, co-founders and co-owners of Self Serve, have curated a selection of independent erotic films that celebrate sex in all its fun, healthy, tender, raw, and real beauty. Selections were made with the help of a twenty-member screening committee. Over 70% of the movies are made by women filmmakers.

At the eve of last year’s Pornotopia Festival, the City of Albuquerque zoning office threatened to shut down the festival and cite and fine the Guild Theater for adult zoning violations. The Guild Cinema and Self Serve, with attorneys from the ACLU, met with representatives of City Councilor Rey Garduno, City Zoning, and the City Attorney’s office and are continuing to work towards a mutually satisfying resolution. LOS ANGELES – Fresh off her win at the 3rd Annual Feminist Porn Awards and the release of her latest Vivid-Ed movie, Ms. Taormino hits the road for a college lecture tour. The Vivid Entertainment director has a busy month planned: she will speak at three different universities this month alone.
